User Onboarding Wizard

New accounts used to land on an empty dashboard and a blank template builder. For an advisor who just signed up to solve a real document problem, that's a long walk to value. The new onboarding wizard turns registration into a three-step guided flow: pick your industry, pick the workflows you care about, and land on a dashboard that already has working templates — polished by AI and ready to send.

What's New

Three-step wizard after registration

New users land in the onboarding flow right after signup. It's three clean steps with a step indicator, back navigation, and a skip link for anyone who'd rather build from scratch.

Step 1 — Industry

Pick from 14 industries — financial advisory, accounting, legal, real estate, insurance, healthcare, and more — each with a recognisable icon. The selection scopes the use cases shown in step 2 to what's relevant for that line of work.

Step 2 — Use cases

Each industry ships with five starter use cases, mixed between inbound collection (client submits documents via portal) and outbound requests (manager sends a request to a client). Pick any combination — one to get going, several to see the range.

Step 3 — Preview and confirm

Before committing, step 3 shows what will be generated — one template per selected use case, with fields, sections, and default email notifications (request, reminder, update) pre-configured. Confirm and the wizard creates everything in a single transaction.

AI polishing with a safe fallback

After the raw templates are created from the catalog skeletons, an AI polish pass rewrites field labels, section titles, and default emails to match the chosen industry's language. If the AI call fails for any reason, the wizard falls through to the raw skeleton — onboarding never blocks on an AI outage.

Get started card on the dashboard

Existing companies that never finished onboarding (no templates yet) now see a Get Started card on the dashboard that links back to the wizard. Once a template exists — whether from the wizard or the builder — the card disappears automatically.

How to Use It

  1. Register a new account
  2. Pick your industry in step 1
  3. Pick one or more use cases in step 2
  4. Review the preview in step 3 and confirm
  5. Land on a dashboard with polished, publishable templates and default emails ready to send

What's Improved

Template drafts alongside published versions

The wizard generates both the published template and an editable draft so you can tweak fields or wording without unpublishing the starter templates mid-use.

No empty-state dead-end

A brand-new company no longer sees an empty dashboard with no obvious next action. The Get Started card on the dashboard, combined with the wizard redirect after registration, means there's always a path to "send your first folio."
